ITU and Roadmap to DTTB & MTV in Africa

ITU in collaboration with the Government of Korea has launched the project with the objective of assisting the governments and broadcasters of the developing countries and least developed countries in Africa region so that they can migrate from analogue to digital broadcasting in an appropriate manner.

This will include assisting countries in developing appropriate policies, regulations including licensing, and planning and building digital broadcasting networks. The objective of this project is to assist the African countries in making their own roadmap for smooth migration from analogue to digital terrestrial TV and mobile TV.

The first phase of the project is entitled “Feasibility Study on Digital Broadcasting Roadmap in Africa”. The second phase will develop the guidelines for transition from Analogue to Digital Broadcasting and roadmaps for selected countries based on the developed guidelines and provide training programmes on digital broadcasting.

All this sound goood ! i just hope they will use this to promote local TV instead of forgein channels.

Je me lance a la decouverte de maneno qui est une plate-forme de blog ( vous me direz encore une autre…) mais cette fois l’idee geniale reside dans le fait que c’est une plate-forme legere permettant a ceux ( comme en afrique ) qui ont encore des debits tres bas de pouvoir avoir un blog et le mettre a jour simplement et a moindre cout!

J’attend juste quelques evollution comme la possibilite de faire des “micro post” par SMS avec des numero d’acces locaux

Google Map Maker

Depuis juin 2008, Google Map Maker permet de créer ses données (axes de communication, lacs, lieux touristiques, …) sur des zones peu ou non couvertes sur Google Maps comme des îles ou des pays africains.
Google met à présent ces données brutes à disposition en téléchargement en format kml ou shapefile sous couvert de conditions d’utilisations assez strictes : interdiction d’utilisation commerciale, d’emploi par des services d’itinéraires et de services concurrents aux produits Google….

Senegal to get an MVNO

Senegalese mineral-water producer Kirene is to launch an MVNO in the country under the brand name Kirene Mobile, according to local reports. The Kirene Mobile service, which will be hosted on the network of Orange Senegal, will be only the second MVNO on the African continent, after Virgin Mobile South Africa. Senegal’s telecoms regulator told Informa Telecoms & Media that it had approved Kirene’s partnership agreement with Orange, allowing it to launch services. A specific MVNO license is not required in Senegal. Kirene was advised by France-based MVNO specialist, Transatel.

Apre l’europe Orange s’apprete a lancer en afrique ( (Senegal, Mali, Niger, Guinea, Guinea Bissau, Cote d’Ivoire, Cameroon, Repubique centrafricaine, Botswana et Kenya) sa nouvelle campagne “together we can do more” reflet de sa vision internationale.

Sauf erreur c’est la premiere fois que Orange lance une campagne dans autant de pays a la fois
